Prompt 1: The cultural artifact i chose to represent gender is "If I were a boy" by Beyonce. The music video shows us what happens when men and women switch roles. It depicts how a man would feel if his partner did what he would be doing behind her back. Then at the end of the video they switch back to their original roles. Prompt 2: The music video is saying that men tend to be the one who aren’t loyal in a relationship, they tend to push boundaries with fidelity meanwhile the women are the ones who are the most dedicated to the relationship. It reinforces that women are seen as crazy in a relationship, there is one part of the video in specific that demonstrates this. The part after Beyoncé is seen at the club with another man and is confronted, her response is “Why you tripping it’s not like I’m sleeping with him”.
